چکیده
A software defined radio (SDR) system is based on state-of-the art technologies covering topics such as: smart antennas, radio frequency (RF) down/up converters, analog to digital converters (ADCs) and digital to analog converters (DACs), digital signal processors (DSPs), modelling and system description languages. This paper is focused in the ADC and studies the various parameters affecting its performance which is critical for the implementation of a SDR receiver. A quantitive analysis is given, in terms of these parameters, followed by a presentation of the basic characteristics of ADCs of the latest technology. Key-Words: Software Radio, analog to digital converters, sampling rate, bit resolution, aperture jitter, signal to noise ratio.

Access and Mobility Policy Control at the Network Edge
The fifth generation (5G) system architecture is defined as service-based and the core network functions are described as sets of services accessible through application programming interfaces (API). One of the components of 5G is Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) which provides the open access to radio network functions through API. Using the mobile edge API third party analytics applications ...
متن کاملA 3.6GS/s, 15mW, 50dB SNDR, 28MHz bandwidth RF ΔΣ ADC with a FoM of 1pJ/bit in 130nm CMOS
A 4 order RF LC Σ∆ ADC clocked at 3.6GHz and centered at 900MHz is presented. The simplicity of the ADC architecture results in a significant performance enhancement and power consumption reduction. The ADC, suitable for Software Defined Radio applications, is implemented in a standard 130nm CMOS technology. It achieves a 52dB SFDR and a 50dB SNDR in a 28MHz BW and consumes only 15mW from a 1.2...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of a Time-interleaved Sampling Architecture for a Software Defined Ultra Wideband Receiver
A Software Defined Radio for Ultra Wideband (UWB) communication systems places several stringent requirements on the Analog to Digital Converter (ADC). The ADC must have a sufficiently fast sampling frequency and SNR to accurately reconstruct the received UWB pulse. Such an ADC can be prohibitively expensive, as well as challenging to interface with a DSP or FPGA. An alternative approach is to ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Timing Jitters on the Performance of Bandpass DT-Sigma Delta ADC for Software Defined Radio Receivers
In the present scenario, wireless technologies require an advanced receiver which supports multistandard and multi-mode transmission. In an ideal software radio, the data conversion process occurs immediately after the antenna in the receiver chain..A/D conversion at an early stage plays an important role for achieving such flexibility at the receiver. Bandpass sampling allows for the digitisat...
متن کامل3 . 8 Gs / s ADC with on - chip PLL for software radio
Abstract This project deals with design of analog to digital converters for software radio applications. Among various ADC architectures, continuous time bandpass (CTBP) sigma-delta ADC was found to be the best architecture for software radio applications. A new CTBP sigma-delta architecture with NRZ DAC is proposed for improved jitter performance. A complete on-chip solution with integrated PL...
